Music Systems & DJ Sets

Every year, Camp Delicioso has a handful of talented DJ’s in d’house, and a few more peeps that are just itching to step out of the shadows and play for the camp.

In 2022, we had a literal meltdown of our laptops due to the insane heat, which affected our ability to play any music through our DJ controller.  Everything failed and we were quiet by noon – it was a major bummer! Now, fast forward to 2024 where we will be using our BRAND NEW sound system thanks to my insurance company that reimbursed us for the stolen gear we endured after our return from the 2023 Burn.

We have twice the power on our satellite speakers (2000w ea) and a 2000w subwoofer.  Technically, we could be designated as a Sound Camp based on the power of our equipment.  For the replacement controller, I purchased a Denon Prime4+.  This unit is a stand-alone controller that doesn’t require a computer to run, with access to massive music libraries from four USB inputs, one SD and an under-panel, 2.5-inch built-in SATA drive bay.  This can also connect to external media players via 4 phono/line switchable RCA inputs.  It also supports computer mode for those that want to use Serrato DJ software.  For more information, please read up on the features:  https://www.denondj.com/prime-4-plus.html

With regards to spinning, we usually have at least 2 sets of DJ’s during the 3 days of crepe service – about 3-4hr/sets.  We realize that not everyone knows how to use Denon controllers, so if you must bring your own rig (Pioneer), communicate to our team and we’ll figure it out.  Ideally, we prefer to use one system so that we don’t have a spaghetti incident every single time a DJ changes.

Signups…please see the Forum post within the Group Pages of your corresponding burn.

Music Policy

Aside from our DJ’ing during crepe service, we do play music for our enjoyment.  When the generator is on and you want to play tunes for the camp, there will be a couple of us that can help you out and get connected.  Don’t expect Spotify availability or any other streaming service.

Loudness – we must keep our sound levels reasonable.  We need to be mindful of our neighbors + there’s a sound limitation for non-sound camps and we don’t want to register as a Sound Camp.   Having our neighbors return the favor of loud shitty music is no fun; so we want to keep the peace, avoid conflict and make sure that we set a good example in case we need to tell our neighbors to turn down their sound systems.
